Literary translations are some of the most difficult types of translation, requiring stylistic skills, a sense of the beauty of language, imagination and artistic expression from only the most proficient of translators. The translator must be familiar with the literary period and the political, historical and cultural background of a literary work, as well as the author's other works and his or her distinctive style in order to capture the flair of the environment and atmosphere of the period of the literary work through the correct selection of vocabulary, derivatives, figurative language and symbols. The translator must convey the author's message, his or her artistic mark, and in particular, the meaning of the text to create something that will arouse the same feelings in the reader as the original text, rather than merely giving the impression that the reader is reading a translation.
